Trump Security Officer Arrested for Allegedly Soliciting Sex from 15-Year-Old Boy
A veteran D.C. police lieutenant tasked with protecting President Trump was arrested for allegedly attempting to solicit sex from a 15-year-old boy. Lt. Matthew Mahl, the first openly gay DC Police Union head, was caught in an undercover sting operation.

Trump Security Officer Arrested for Allegedly Soliciting Sex from 15-Year-Old Boy
A shocking scandal has emerged involving a veteran Washington D.C. police lieutenant tasked with protecting President Trump, who was arrested this week on charges of attempting to solicit sex from a minor.
High-Ranking Officer's Disturbing Double Life
Lt. Matthew Mahl, 47, a 23-year Metropolitan Police Department veteran and member of the special-operations division responsible for providing security to President Trump and Vice President JD Vance, was taken into custody Tuesday after allegedly attempting to meet what he believed was a 15-year-old boy for sexual purposes.
The case began when Harford County Sheriff's Office Detective Christopher Sergent posed as a teenager named "Nate" on the Reddit forum "r/GayYoungOldDating." According to charging documents, Mahl engaged in weeks of increasingly explicit conversations with the undercover detective, completely unaware he was communicating with law enforcement.
Brazen Display of Authority
What makes this case particularly disturbing is how openly Mahl revealed his position of authority. The veteran officer shared photos of himself in his DC police uniform sitting in his patrol car and even sent a "sexually suggestive" image from his work office couch. He freely disclosed his rank, years of service, and assignment to the special-events branch that helps safeguard high-profile officials.
"The disgraced lieutenant repeatedly mentioned how 'Nate' was 'young and inexperienced' during their conversations and asked him if he was a sophomore in high school," according to the police documents.
Countdown to Legal Age
Perhaps most chilling was Mahl's apparent fixation on the fictional teen's upcoming 16th birthday. In one exchange, he wrote that he wished "it was 2/11/27 sooooo bad," referencing what he believed to be the boy's 16th birthday when he would reach Maryland's age of consent.
Despite his predatory behavior, Mahl occasionally showed awareness of the consequences, telling the undercover detective, "I have it all to lose," in what investigators described as "an apparent moment of self-reflection."
The Sting Operation
The investigation culminated when the detective arranged a meeting in Abingdon, Maryland, telling Mahl that "his parents would be out of town." Mahl took the day off work and showed up at the provided address on April 14, where he was promptly arrested.
The veteran officer now faces serious charges including soliciting child pornography and two counts of sexual solicitation of a minor. He's currently being held without bond pending a preliminary hearing scheduled for May 15.
Historic First, Devastating Fall
Mahl's arrest is particularly shocking given his prominent role in the department. Ten years ago, he was celebrated as the first openly gay person to head the DC Police Union, making headlines for breaking barriers in law enforcement.
Now, that historic achievement is overshadowed by what the Metropolitan Police Department called "extremely disturbing" allegations that are "in direct contrast to the values of the Metropolitan Police Department."
Official Response
Embattled DC Mayor Muriel Bowser responded to the scandal Wednesday, stating: "We don't have any knowledge of any accusation or any investigation involving the District, his employment or any of our children... We don't want anybody like that on our force if those allegations are true."
The MPD has pledged to conduct a thorough internal investigation once the criminal proceedings are complete.
Impact on Presidential Security
The case raises serious questions about vetting procedures for officers assigned to protect the nation's highest officials. While there's no indication that Mahl's alleged criminal behavior directly impacted his security duties, the scandal highlights potential vulnerabilities in the system designed to safeguard President Trump and other high-ranking officials.
As this case moves through the courts, it serves as a stark reminder that positions of authority and trust can sometimes shield the very behaviors they're meant to prevent. The full extent of Mahl's alleged crimes and their impact on presidential security operations will likely become clearer as the investigation continues.
